What I do directly impacts the entire product and in turn the end user’s experience. At ikaSystems, you have opportunities to work in multiple roles and are encouraged to take on additional tasks that interest you. There are so many areas you can work on, and if you are technically adept, no one stops you from going full steam. The only limiting factor is yourself and how much you want to grow.

Here, you are not just another number who comes to work, works on something in some module located in some sub-section of one of the many company's products, and then goes home. If you want to be told what to do day in and day out, this is probably not the right place for you. At ikaSystems, you are encouraged to make decisions and be self-motivated. However, with freedom comes responsibility, so you have to be on top of your game technically.

Another factor is my team. We have a certain comfort level having worked with each other for a few years now. Each of us is competent in our own areas of expertise, and we feed off each other sans the ego.

Finally, employers leave their managers, not their companies. I look up to my manager for his level of technical expertise and for knowing what he's talking about. I am happy to be working under someone who favors the "right idea" and not the "right person." You can reason out code with him, and it's never my way or the highway.

Every day I get up and look through the Forbes list of the richest people in America. If I'm not there, I go to work.

Working at ikaSystems is little different than it is at most places. Here, there is a team instead of departments, which gives you a feeling of togetherness and makes it easy to share views and experiences. Employees feel confidence in their work, not fear or doubts that they can perform.

Because senior managers have this confidence in me, today I am able to service four clients independently, and I have the confidence in myself to take on even more responsibilities.
