ikaSystems Introduces ikaProHEDIS* to Proactively Manage HEDIS and Improve Quality of Care

ikaSystems, is a leading provider of Web-based ERP solutions for the managed care industry announces the release of ikaProHEDIS, a web based transactional application for health insurers that is the only early warning management system based on HEDIS reporting. ikaProHEDIS identifies patients early in the reporting cycle that have not received their immunization or preventive screenings allowing insurers to improve quality of care and HEDIS scores.

Eight months into the reporting year and monthly thereafter HEDIS measures are available electronically to primary care physicians, patients and care managers identifying individual patients and the status of their HEDIS measures. The reports are available through a web portal so that all parties receive the same notification of what screenings and immunizations are required. If the physician does not open the report an additional reminder and ultimately a fax report is sent. Patients receive multiple reminders and nurse managers are also notified when there has been a lack of compliance so they are able to appropriately follow up. Because the technology is web based, physicians can update records directly in the application when measures have been completed but not previously documented, reducing the need for chart reviews at year end. This approach improves quality of care in a collaborative fashion in that all parties are encouraging the patient to receive their screenings. This will result in improved HEDIS scores as well at both the health plan and provider level.

Many physicians' pay for performance programs use HEDIS measures as the basis of the quality component but do not get any information, until the end of the year when it is too late, on how they are performing and what effect it will have on their payment. ikaProHEDIS can be utilized in conjunction with ikaSystems Pay For Performance application which allows physicians to see the financial impact of their HEDIS scores. With this real time proactive quality engine current and future quality accessed real time and could be used to compute P4P reward programs rather than using prior year quality metrics.
